If you have chosen to stay in our accommodation in Cape Town during your visit to the Mother City then you may very well have traveled past the Grand Parade Cape Town at one point or another, like many of our Cape Town accommodation, it is situated right in the city center, in the heart of all of the activity.

The Grand Parade was first officially used by the Castle of Good Hope’s garrison, as a training ground. At the time it was a grassy common. Later it was used as an area on which to conduct military parades, which is possibly where its name originated from. Read More…

Jetty Square is just behind Piers Place, while a public area, it is a bit more hidden away from the activity of any main streets and is surrounded by popular restaurants and coffee shops, such as Bizerka. The perfect place for business people to escape the hustle and bustle of the city temporarily, one could easily walk from their Cape Town Waterfront accommodation, and it shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes by foot. Walking into The Kitchen Woodstock Cape Town is like walking into the home of an old relative with a penchant for hording, but this old granny or great aunt also happens to cook very well. There are jars of preserves and jams everywhere you look and crockery in every possible nook and cranny, and it is all mismatched, just like the crockery you’re served with. But this just adds to its down to earth atmosphere where slick pretence is left at the door.

The Parliament Cape Town of South Africa will be opening this year on the 9^th of February where the President will give his annual State of the Nation Address and where politicians and dignitaries will consider more than 20 bills for this year.

While not everyone is invited inside the houses of Parliament for the State of the Nation Address, it is well worth departing from your Cape villas for a few hours and heading down to Plein Street to see what everyone is wearing. Read More…

This year on the 28^th of January saw the 35^th J&B Met 2012 Cape Town, the country’s most prestigious horse race and a chance to dress to the nines, held annually at the Kenilworth Racecourse. This year’s theme was ‘Made Different’ which refers to the Mets sponsors, J&B whiskey, made from a blend of 42 whiskeys. The theme also encouraged South Africans to bend and break the rules of fashion.

The 50 000 people that attended the event this year took the theme very seriously and many came decked out in extravagant creations, some even resembling a Madi Gras costume rather than an outfit for a day at the races. Read More…

Here’s an activity for the speed freaks staying in our accommodation in Cape Town. Killarney Race Track Cape Town was first built in 1947, the track was rebuilt in 1959, according to specifications required for the Formula 1 cars of the era, just in time for the Cape Grand Prix, held there on the first of January 1960.

Situated in Tableview, about 50 minutes from most of our Cape Town accommodation in the city center, the racing track at Killarney Race Course is open from Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 17:00 and short circuit racing and go karting are also held on the tracks. Read More…

Located at the Old Wellington Fruit Growers Market building between Longmarket and Darling Street, about 10 minutes drive from our selection of accommodation in Camps Bay Cape Town, is the Eastern Food Bazaar Cape Town. You will know that you have reached it by the beautifully decorated entrance, an explosion of Asia in the heart of the city center.

The bazaar is 100% Halaal and includes a range of mini restaurants offering a smorgasbord of colourful, spicy food fit for anyone desiring to eat their way through Asia. At prices so reasonable, they could probably afford to sample something from every counter, if they have the stomach room. Read More…

Whether you are staying in one of our Cape Town villas, of which we have 8 in the West Coast area, or in one of our many Cape Town apartments in Town, you must make time to visit Ciao Baby Cucina Eden on the Bay.

If you do go, be sure to go on a Sunday, this is when Eden on the Bay comes alive with various activities and promotions, it also seems to be the place where all the locals of the area hang out, giving it a lovely vibe.
