      Do The Locomotion.....

Rewind back to the 80’s – think disco ball, school gym and doing the Loco-Motion!

Cape Town is in for a treat when Australian born Pop singer, song writer and actress, KYLIE MINOGUE,  will be gracing the stage of The Grand Arena on the 13th and 14 July 2011 promoting her latest #1 album, and world tour  APHRODITE LES FOLIES!  This tour will be capturing the hearts of Kylie fans from her home town of Australia, to Italy, Bangkok, Singapore  and the UK – to mention but a few!

Beginning her career with the Australian TV series, Neighbours, Kylie has progressed into an international Super Star! With 11 albums to her name, and hits such as “I should be so lucky”, “Spinning Around” and her latest single hitting radio stations all over South African, “Get Outa My Way”, this Pop Princess is one NOT to be missed! Kylie has also achieved worldwide record sales of over 68 million, as well as received notable music  awards including Brit Awards and a Grammy Award.

The Grand Arena couldn’t be a better venue to host such an artist! Located in Grand West Casino in Cape Town, this venue seats up to 5000 people, making it intimate, yet also ideal for those who wish to put the Loco-Motion into action and sway those hips – as there is plenty of floor standing space too! Hosting artists such as 30 seconds to Mars, Roxette and Bryan Adams, you can’t go wrong with this sensational Superbowl!

Why not arrive earlier, and grab a bite at one of many restaurants in “Hanover Street” or “Jackson Hall”, or if it’s just a refreshing beverage you’re after, recline and relax at one of the Casino’s elegant bars! Check them out at www.suninternational.com

So…book those flights to Cape Town to avoid missing the Pop Princess (possibly of the century) perform live at Grand West Casino – 13th and 14th July! Book your tickets NOW at www.computicket.co.za

Greenpoint Park - FREE Winter Entertainment

Spending money every weekend in Cape Town can be tough on the back pocket – especially when you have a family!

If you think about it, you take 3 kids to the movies – R100 on tickets – and DON’T forget the popcorn, sweets and cooldrinks – that’s setting you back around R250, just for 2 hours of entertainment!

Up until today, I had never heard of this little (well, actually not so little) gem we have right here on our doorstep in the Mother City….Greenpoint Park! This is a FREE form of entertainment for the whole family! Finally – something FREE!

Since the FIFA World Cup 2010 ended in July last year, most of us have forgotten about and lost interest in the stadium and its surrounds. But hidden by the shadow of one of the City’s now famous landmarks, The Greenpoint Soccer Stadium, this landscape of lush green grass, glisening ponds and metal animal sculptures is the perfect place to kick back and relax on a crisp sunny Sunday afternoon for FREE (I think I already mentioned that factor?!)

Although there is loads of fun to be had at the park, it is also a Biodiversity Garden – desgined to be educational as well as inspirational. With over 300 different species of plants.  This park, although aimed at kids of school going age, can also be equally informative for young adult learners or people who have a passion for nature conservation.

So, bring your picnics, soccer balls, cricket kit or just yourselves, and enjoy soaking up the fresh air and magnificent views of Signal Hill and Lion’s Head. And don’t forget to check out the boards throughout the park on “How to keep a healthy pond at home to attract frogs” or “Dead logs are great homes for lizards and geckos” .

And speaking of GREEN Point Park – there are even recycling bins scattered around, so you don’t need to go home with your picnic rubbish in tow! Support South Africa in our quest to “Go Green” – RECYCLE!  http://www.goinggreen.co.za

*Thank you to the family of “Se7en + 1” for sharing this new found playground in Cape Town on your blog - http://www.se7en.org.za
